The two universities are collaborating to offer a Chinese Ministry of Education approved dual degree programme with students studying towards a BA (Hons) International Governance and Public Policy from Keele University and a BA in Diplomacy from BFSU. We attract high achieving students who continue their FHEQ Level 5 studies at Keele before returning to Beijing to complete the undergraduate programme.

You will be expected to deliver core undergraduate International Relations subjects such as The Politics of Development (lvl6) and Peacebuilding and Emerging Powers (lvl6) so candidates with a background teaching Political Science, Security Studies, and International Relations are encouraged to apply. Experience of the UK higher education system and of working in, or with students from, the Chinese tertiary education sector will be an advantage.

We require a relevant PhD with ideally two years’ teaching experience. 3rd Year undergraduate modules at Keele are mainly taught in a seminar format so candidates will be expected to prove their competence in leading undergraduate seminars. Experience in supervising undergraduate dissertations will be an asset.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate familiarity with rigorous university quality management processes, professional accountability, flexibility and strong, intercultural team working skills. Evidence of having a reflective approach to teaching is expected in any application for this position.

You will be employed by Overseas Education Investment Management, a professional education services company with a strong track record of delivering UK TNE in China. We are offering a monthly salary in the range 22,500 RMB to 26,500 RMB, health insurance, flights to and from Beijing and an apartment on campus or a 7,000 RMB monthly housing allowance if you prefer to live off campus. We will assist in finding an apartment.

The position is a full-time post based in Beijing with a teaching load of up to twenty class hours a week, which usually corresponds to delivering two modules per semester. Contracts are initially for 10 months starting September 2021 but renewable and we are seeking staff members who are willing to commit longer term (subject to fulfilling the requirement for a Chinese work visa). Benefits are awarded for staff who re-sign for subsequent years.

Applications will be considered on an ongoing basis until the post is filled. For informal enquiries and for an application form please contact Dr Richard Smittenaar, OEIM’s programme leader at richardsmittenaar@bfsu.edu.cn
