We provide exceptional learning experiences that stay with our students for the rest of their lives, enabling them to flourish within and beyond their studies. Since our foundation in 1963, York’s focus on academic excellence has resulted in a strong reputation across the globe. The Service also  actively engages with developing and managing learning spaces across the university.

A key factor in the success of the role surrounds maintaining a balanced focus on our important digital education strategy, the facilitation of our research ambitions and building on our reputation for excellence in the student experience.  The university has bold digital ambitions, and our Director of Library and Archives will play a key role in supporting this. Your ability to communicate across a wide community, synthesising views on the possibilities for the future of the service and working interdependently to deliver that future is critical.

Importantly, this is a high-profile leadership role at the university. Candidates will need to demonstrate a passion to deliver our aims and objectives, coupled with an enthusiasm for all that we are seeking to achieve and to role model the university's values in all aspects of the role.
