The School of Fine Art is one of five academic schools at The Glasgow School of Art. As the School enters a new and exciting phase, we are seeking an innovative Head of Department in Painting & Printmaking to lead and develop the undergraduate curriculum. As Head of Department in Painting & Printmaking you will undertake an appropriate balance of teaching, assessment, curriculum development and related administration, including quality assurance. You will also have a research and/or practice profile which will make a valuable contribution to the academic life of the school.
You will be responsible for overseeing curriculum development, ensuring the currency of the educational experience and guiding the development of its distinctive ethos and approach. You will ensure that the curriculum facilitates connections to contemporary fine art, creative organisations and the professional domain, expressed through disciplinary learning in painting & printmaking. You will work proactively with staff and students to ensure the enhancement of the student experience through formal and informal engagement with the Student Voice.
You will be qualified to postgraduate degree level, or equivalent, and have an excellent awareness of the current and future contexts for fine art, and painting & printmaking in particular. You should have significant experience of teaching and experience of programme leadership and management within higher education, preferably in an Art/Design School environment.
