The role

The post of Lecturer in Urban Analytics in the Computer Science Department will contribute to extending the research profile of Urban Analytics, City Science, Data-Driven Urban Systems, and related areas at Exeter, particularly in areas related or complementary to the field for which the department has a strong research preference. We are particularly interested Individuals who help the development of a MSc program in Urban Analytics and can teach various aspects of that program. However, we will consider candidates with expertise in any areas of Computer Science.

The post will include research, teaching and related administration in Computer Science Department; collaborate with College and the University of Exeter as a whole in order to develop and support Computer Science research programmes, in particular a new program in Urban Analytics, and the College’s research programme.

About you

For a Lecturer post you will have:

  • A PhD or equivalent in Computer Science or closely related fields and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a relevant active field of research
  • Knowledge and ability to teach modules in computer science, in particular core modules such as Complexity and Computability, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Programming, Enterprise Computing, Web Development, Discrete Mathematics, and Software Development.
  • A strong record in attracting funding for research or demonstrate potential to attract such funding.
  • Ability to complement the research groups in the department in areas such as City Science, Human Dynamics, Urban Systems and Analytics, Optimization of Urban Systems, and related areas.
  • An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research
  • Enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate and graduate programmes
  • Strong connections in academia and industry and potential to lead industry funded projects.
  • Involvement in projects which develop impact.
