Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with the blood cancer myeloma and related conditions. We are committed to bringing together the best and brightest people to help us ensure that every patient has an empowered present and a hopeful future. We are now looking to appoint a Patient Information Officer to join our Healthcare Advocacy Services Team.

To realise our long-term ambition to make myeloma history, we relentlessly pursue better outcomes for myeloma patients and patients with related conditions through a comprehensive early diagnosis programme, a unique research portfolio, our treatment access strategy, information and support services, and healthcare improvement services.

The role of Patient Information Officer is to maintain, develop and deliver accurate printed and online information (written and audio/visual) on myeloma and its related conditions for patients, their family and carers, as well as ensuring complex medical and scientific language is translated into clear and concise information for a patient audience.

The post holder will work with colleagues to ensure close communication and sharing of information across the organisation and report progress regularly to their line manager.

Excellent writing, copy editing and proofing skills with the ability to convey complex medical and scientific information in lay terms are essential for this role.  You will require to have experience of writing information materials for a range of audiences and producing information for different channels as well as the knowledge of the stages involved in producing information.  You will need to be able to manage your own workload and have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as good IT skills with the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders efficiently.  Previous experience in writing information materials for patients, working directly with patients, carers and family members, content development for information events and a general health and cancer knowledge would be an advantage for this role.

This is a part-time post for 28 hours per week worked over 4 days.  The post is currently home based, with hub-based office days.  It is preferrable that the post holder is based within reasonable travelling distance of the Edinburgh office.
