Instructors needed to teach on Contemporary Issues in Science related courses (40 contact hours) for a summer interdisciplinary STEM in London study abroad program run at the Global Education Oregon (GEO) London Centre. The GEO London Centre is located in Bloomsbury and hosts hundreds of U.S. university students throughout the year on a variety of study abroad programs. GEO is launching a new STEM in London program to run during the summer quarter (4 weeks) commencing Summer 2022. The program will include students from across STEM disciplines so instructors should feel confident teaching an interdisciplinary course with broad appeal to students from varying disciplines such as biology, human physiology, chemistry, earth sciences, or physics. Course will include experiential learning through field trips and development of students’ science process skills through problem-based learning, reading primary literature, framing research questions, writing, and presentations.
Proposed Interdisciplinary Course Options for Contemporary Issues in Science:
Interdisciplinary approaches to Climate Change
Interdisciplinary Evolutionary Perspectives
Green Chemistry Solutions
Other course suggestions are welcome, especially those that reflect the UK’s rich tradition of interdisciplinary science.
Program Dates: July 31-August 27, 2022, planning to run the program annually if successful
Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis.
