We are looking for a Data Scientist

The Opportunity:

SEBI-Livestock is seeking a highly motivated and experienced candidate for the post of Data Scientist.  The post holder will be a member of the SEBI-Livestock team and will play a key role in providing data support to enable SEBI-Livestock to deliver core services to Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This post will require a methodological, rigorous and service oriented individual to support data processing of SEBI-Livestock’s animal health and production data derived from low and middle-income countries (LMICs). The post holder will, with guidance from SEBI team members, design and build a scalable, tested and validated data pipeline to process project data. The post will be based at the University of Edinburgh’s Easter Bush Campus, but their work will be focused on livestock health and productivity in specific countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • Demonstrable  experience of R programming.
  • Demonstrable experience of SQL databases.
  • Experience and knowledge of good software engineering practice, including use of version control systems and implementation of unit and integration tests
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Excellent team working skills.
