A full-time position is available for a talented data scientist to join our multidisciplinary team on the ‘The Human Brain Synaptome Project’, an exciting Wellcome-funded endeavour that will deliver the first single-synapse resolution atlas of the human brain. Our well-established laboratory, which is situated in Edinburgh BioQuarter (Chancellor’s Building), studies the molecular basis of brain function in health and disease, in particular the role of synapse diversity. You will work closely with both experimental and computational neuroscientists, supporting the imaging data collection and analysis pipeline, and managing and disseminating project data through the development of dedicated web databases and web applications.

This position is fixed term until 31 Oct 2024 in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • University degree or equivalent experience in computer science, informatics or related data-intensive discipline
  • Proven ability with advanced web systems and database development
  • Experience in managing network, computing and data storage infrastructure
  • An outstanding team player who will thrive within a multidisciplinary, highly collaborative research group
  • Excellent time management, problem solving, organisational and communication skills
