Do you want to join us in redefining our approach to Knowledge Exchange (KE) and promoting a culture of excellence in innovation and entrepreneurship?

The University of Sheffield is seeking a new Head of Knowledge Exchange and Innovation to drive the impact ambitions of the University’s vision. Our ultimate ambition is to use our ground-breaking research, teaching and enterprise to address the world’s most pressing challenges. Could you help us to achieve this by growing and strengthening our impact, knowledge exchange and innovation activities?

Our historic dedication to KE dates back to the founding of the University and is clearly illustrated in our performance in the recent Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF). This confirmed that we are in the top 10 UK HEIs in relation to our partnerships with business, public and the third sector, and in relation to our successful approach to commercialising our IP.

Whilst our performance is excellent, we are always striving for better! We are now looking for an enthusiastic leader to transform and professionalise our approach to supporting KE in all forms, with a particular focus on building a strong pipeline of outcome focused external partnerships. This is an extremely exciting time to join the team and your immediate responsibility will be to deliver an organisational change programme to establish a new University wide KE support service.

You will be accountable for a large amount of KE funding, having oversight of around £15m in live grants, and we will be relying on you to steer and advise on the use of this funding to achieve continuous growth in our collaborations with partners from the private, public and third sectors.

We’re looking for a highly effective and collaborative leader with exemplary communication skills to manage a direct team as well as provide leadership to KE professionals across the University, bringing together a virtual team that spans our Faculties and professional services to deliver a joined up service for our external partners. If this sounds like you, and you would also be excited by the prospect of building highly productive partnerships that deliver for our partners as well as our research and teaching ambitions, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
