Full time starting salary is normally in the range £41,526 - £77,108 (Lecturer salary from £41,526 - £49,553 a year with potential progression to £55,750 a year). (Senior Lecturer salary from £51,034 - £59,135 a year with potential progression to £77,108 a year).

The Department of Marketing is one of six departments within Birmingham Business School. The Department’s vision is to further its reputation for world leading and internationally renowned research in our two core areas of strength, namely Responsible and Critical Marketing, and Consumer Culture Research. We are seeking to expand our recruitment efforts strategically in these two areas.

Our research contributes to the School’s ambition to deliver excellent research and teaching that promotes curiosity and thought leadership for responsible business, aligning also with the University’s broader strategy regarding sustainability and research that matters.

Currently, the department consists of 35 full-time faculty and has a vibrant research culture. Our research underpins our teaching across a range of exciting undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the UK, Singapore and our new Dubai Campus. The department also has a healthy PhD programme.

The Department of Marketing provides an excellent environment in which to conduct research. We run regular research groups and seminar series, enabling colleagues to discuss their research in a collegiate and developmental manner. We are keen to support colleagues who join us so that they can flourish and develop their academic careers. 

We are seeking to recruit a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Marketing (Teaching and Research) to undertake and advance research, teaching and leadership within the Department of Marketing and/or across the Business School.

As a research-intensive university, we are looking to recruit colleagues with an excellent research profile and/or with strong potential to develop a growing national and international reputation in their area of expertise which may fall within, or cut across, Responsible and Critical Marketing, and Consumer Culture Research.

Person Specification

Normally, a higher degree relevant to the research/teaching area (usually PhD), or close to completion, or equivalent qualifications. Extensive research/teaching experience and scholarship within subject specialism. Proven ability to devise, advise on and manage learning/research. Skills in managing, motivating and mentoring others successfully at all levels.

For Senior Lecturer, a demonstrated competence in Research; Learning and Teaching; and Management and Administration; and excellence in at least two of these areas.

Posts will be located at our Edgbaston campus though there are also opportunities to teach in Dubai or Singapore.
