Staff pride themselves on being outstanding professionals that provide excellent learning, teaching and applied research and support in the provision of custom-designed, industry led courses in numerous subject areas.
The School of Engineering is looking to recruit a Lecturer with a background in Engineering Mathematics, and Modelling and Simulation.
The key duties of the post-holder will be to focus on the teaching of Engineering Mathematics across a range of disciplines within the School. The post holder will also be expected to engage in research and industrial collaboration, preferably in the area of modelling and simulation. This will include providing support to those students on an apprenticeship programme. A background in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering is appropriate. It is important that candidates are able to adopt a cross discipline systems approach and are able to contextualise the role of mathematics to Engineering. The role will also include the academic and personal support of students.
Applicants will be required to have completed, or be close to completion of a PhD in an area related to Civil Engineering and should be members of an associated professional body, preferably with CEng status. In addition, a relevant teaching qualification and/or fellowship status of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), or a willingness to obtain fellowship membership of the HEA within a specified time frame, will be a requirement. Appropriate recent industrial experience will also be considered in lieu of educational experience.
The successful candidate should demonstrate an awareness of current developments and priorities within the sector as well as being able to facilitate the creation and maintenance of a range of links between academic and Civil Engineering organisations.
Relevant teaching and programme delivery experience, as well as being able to undertake appropriate subject specific research, is preferable but relevant industrial experience may also be considered in lieu of this.
