The Faculty Office MHLS is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Technician - COVID DfE fund to provide specialist bioinformatics support in the field of Genomics to research projects, working in the Genomics Core Technology Unit (CTU)

The successful candidate must have:

  • Academic and/or vocational qualifications i.e. a minimum of OND/ONC and/or NVQ level 3 in relevant subject or equivalent qualification.
  • At least three years relevant experience, including computer programming experience with one or more of: R, Python, Java, C/C++,.
  • Relevant experience in analysing genomics data.
  • Experience working with UNIX/Linux environment.
  • Experience with Open-Source software and packages
  • Experience working to SOPs
  • Technical knowledge from using data servers/compute clusters

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
