The School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of the West of Scotland is inviting applications for the position of Lecturer in Theoretical Physics/Applied Mathematics. The duties of the role are teaching and research, with a focus on teaching physics and mathematical physics. The post will be primarily based in Physics within the Division of Physical Sciences.
The role will be based on the Paisley Campus of the University of the West of Scotland. The postholder will contribute to the delivery of a new undergraduate Physics programme which is a joint venture between UWS and the Changchun University of Science and Technology (CUST) in China. The teaching on this joint programme will be online or in China, or a mixture of both modes.
The role will require effective contributions to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, to research, and to academic administration. A successful track record of research and a good publication record will be advantageous. The research interests of the post holder may align with an existing area of research in the Division of Physical Sciences or may form a new area within the scope of theoretical physics/applied mathematics. We would also welcome applicants with an interest or track record in pedagogical research who would work closely with our new Learning Transformation team.
