AME 30334 : Heat Transfer
Contract time: Approximately 3 hours per teaching week x 14 weeks.
Deliver and assess this pre-existing class, which covers: three modes of heat transfer; steady and unsteady conduction, elementary boundary layer analysis for laminar and turbulent convection and the basic theory of radiation. This is the third course in a sequence of three courses in thermo/fluids with an introductory thermodynamics course and a fluid mechanics course as prerequisites.
While the contents of the course is established, the instructor will be expected to prepare their own course materials and assessments, in line with their teaching approach.

Teaching commitment: The class will meet for 14 teaching weeks between January and early May, EITHER twice per week on Mondays and Wednesdays, OR twice per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Class meeting times are 75 minutes. In addition, instructors are expected to make themselves available for some additional office hours for their students, as well as completing all marking, class preparation, etc.
Dates for the Spring semester 2022: 10th January, to April 29th. (Easter break will be the bank holidays only)
The salary for this position will be commensurate with level of academic experience and the teaching load of the class, in the range of £4,000 to £5,400.
