The College of Arts and Law has a long tradition of producing cutting-edge research that has real-world impact and informs the challenging and exciting learning environment our students experience.  The College is recruiting a Senior Research Administrator to provide professional support for research operations across the College.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Development Officer to make a contribution to implementing the College of Arts and Law’s research and impact agendas. Drawing upon his/her understanding of research in Higher Education, the successful candidate will work closely with relevant academic and Professional Services colleagues across the College to support the delivery of the College Research, Engagement and Impact strategy in line with the University Strategic Framework.

  • Working with the School Heads of Research, to provide operational support for the School research, engagement and impact environments. This will include taking personal responsibility for some actions and directing individuals to relevant support elsewhere, as appropriate. 
  • To support the School Research leads to implement short and long terms plans for the research institutes/groups/centres
  • To support the delivery of specific aspects of these plans, in particular for increasing public engagement with academic research, working closely with academic colleagues in the Department/School, College and University

Person Specification

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in a Humanities or Social Sciences discipline. 
  • Experience of building and maintaining collaborative and effective relationships with a broad range of people
  • Ability to undertake desk-based research tasks and to collate relevant information using excel spreadsheets
  • Ability to use initiative to make sound judgement calls.  
  • Proven ability to use the web and social media as a means of communication. 
  • Ability to work accurately to tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
