Scotland’s International Environment Centre (SIEC), a flagship programme funded by Stirling and Clackmannanshire City and Region Deal, is looking to appoint a highly motivated, forward-looking Project Manager to lead the development of the new SIEC Data Centre. 

The SIEC Data Centre, which will include a scalable, multi-million-pound high-performance computing infrastructure to be launched in early 2022, will enable and support next generation big data, processing, and analytics. It will support world leading research and innovation and creating commercial value for our wide range of stakeholders including SMEs, private and public partners. 

You will join a multidisciplinary team working on the ground-breaking Forth Environmental Resilience Array (Forth-ERA) programme and the development of a world-leading digital catchment observatory for the Firth of Forth in close collaboration with a range of regional and national stakeholders.

You will join a dynamic, innovative team focused on delivering a programme that will help deliver on Scotland’s net zero targets through the provision of big data.  SIEC Data Centre is a collaborative facility, which will be co-designed with users across multiple sectors.

Description of Duties

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Effectively lead and project manage the development of SIEC Data Centre, including the High Performance Computing (HPC) capability and Visualisation Suite, along with any associated projects. The project manager will lead through the full project management lifecycle, including project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & controlling, closure and evaluation
  • Lead the establishment of business requirements through working with business analysts and acting as a facilitator with the relevant business area using a range of engagement activities or techniques
  • Engage with and lead the project team and any staffing resource attached to project work packages or other activities, ensuring that progress is made to meet milestones and the successful delivery of project objectives

Essential Criteria

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant discipline; or equivalent qualification
  • Formal project or programme management qualification or certification (e.g. PRINCE2 Practitioner, P3O Practitioner, MSP, APM PMQ, or similar)

Knowledge & Experience

  • Significant experience of project or programme management, and of managing multiple projects simultaneously, in a large complex organisation
  • Proven knowledge and experience of working with a recognised project or programme management methodology, such as PRINCE2, MSP, P3O, APM, etc.
