Location: Department of Materials, Rex Richards Building, South Parks Road, Oxford

We are seeking two outstanding postdoctoral candidates to carry out research under the supervision of Professor Peter Bruce. You will play a key role in a high-profile collaborative project funded by the Faraday Institution.

We are looking for highly-motivated self-starters with significant expertise in either:

  • All solid-state batteries (including interfacial analysis, electrochemistry and materials characterisation)


  • Cathode materials for Li and Na ion batteries (including solid-state chemistry, synthesis, electrochemistry and characterisation)

The posts are available for one year initially, with the possibility of extension.

You should have a doctorate, or be near completion, in chemistry, materials science or a closely-related area. You should also have a good first degree in a relevant subject. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, along with a strong publication record in one of the above areas.  With excellent analytical skills, you will enjoy the challenge of using cutting-edge technology to accelerate the advancement of battery science. You will be expected to work with colleagues in the group and collaborators.  Professor Bruce’s group works in state-of-the-art laboratories in the University’s Science Area.
