The School of Medicine has successfully launched a range of medicine programmes since September 2015 including the MBBS programme, Physician Associate undergraduate and postgraduate courses and an accelerated BSc (Hons) Medical Sciences.
We are seeking to appoint a current medical practitioner to be the deputy clinical lead to support the content and delivery of clinical communication skills on these programmes. The post-holder will support students in gaining the clinical consultation skills necessary for safe effective patient-centered clinical care in line with the Calgary Cambridge Framework. The post holder will work together with the Clinical Communication Skills Lead to deliver the communication skills curriculum. The post-holder will also take part in other clinical teaching activities as required for the MBBS course and other courses within the School of Medicine.
The postholder will work together with the Clinical Communication Skills Lead in the development, assurance and delivery of the communication skills teaching in line with the agreed curriculum frameworks, to ensure students gain an understanding of the importance of effective communication in all clinical settings with an emphasis on Phase 1 (years 1 and 2).
Holding full registration with the GMC and a Primary Medical Qualification such as MBBS, BMBS or MBChB, the successful applicant will have experience of teaching clinical communication skills and substantial experience of working as a medical practitioner. As a self-motivated and pro-active individual, the successful applicant will have excellent communications skills, the ability to generate clear and concise documentation and strong team working skills.
