Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in the biomedical sciences? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?

A postdoctoral position is available in the Lukacs lab lab on a BBSRC-funded project to study mammalian mechano-transduction. We are a dynamically growing and well-resourced group with an interest in the molecular aspects of somatosensation. We use a combination of high-throughput genomics, fluorescent imaging and cell sorting techniques and electrophysiology to study molecular receptors of chemical, thermal and mechanical receptors in the sensory nervous system.

The successful applicant will study the function and regulation of mechano-sensitive receptors and ion channels using patch clamp electrophysiology, molecular biology and fluorescent imaging techniques. As part of a collaborative effort the applicant will also work on the development and implementation of novel technology in genomics in the field of sensory physiology and beyond.

Our lab is part of the collaborative Omics and Neur@l research super-groups at the University of Leeds. The University of Leeds and the Faculty of Biological Sciences are committed to providing equal opportunities for all and offer a range of family- friendly policies. The University is a charter member of Athena SWAN (the national body that promotes gender equality in higher education), and the Faculty of Biological Sciences was awarded a Silver award in 2020. We are proud to be an inclusive Faculty that values all staff, and are happy to consider job share applications and requests for flexible working arrangements from our employees. Our Athena SWAN webpage provides more information.
