The University of Leeds is one of the largest, most prestigious and diverse research-intensive universities in the UK. We are in the world’s top 100 universities in the QS rankings, ranked in the UK’s top 10 for research power and impact, and a member of the Russell Group. These successes are supported by an outstanding community of staff and students, a world-class campus and a strong financial position. The University also plays a key role at the heart of one of the UK’s most economically vibrant and compassionate cities, and takes its economic, social, environmental and cultural responsibilities very seriously.
Under the leadership of our recently appointed Vice-Chancellor, Professor Simone Buitendijk, we have launched our new University Strategy 2020-2030: Universal Values, Global Change. A blueprint for a values-driven university, we will harness our expertise in research and education to help shape a better future for humanity, working through collaboration to tackle inequalities, achieve societal impact and drive change in genuinely distinctive and transformational ways. To help realise this exciting ambition we are now seeking to appoint a Director of Campus Innovation and Development to lead the re-imagination of our campus in support of a new paradigm for higher education.
As a crucial member of the University’s Management Team, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the new Director will lead a broad range of strategic transformation programmes targeted at delivering the University’s strategy in multi-functional operating environments involving people, infrastructure, systems and culture change. A key priority for the new Director will be to develop and implement a new 10-year campus development plan and estate strategy. This will include a prioritised programme of capital investments which supports the principles of space sharing and digitally enhanced working and teaching.
The successful candidate will have the vision and courage to challenge embedded practices associated with traditional campus activities and design a blueprint for the campus of the future; supporting more than 9,000 members of staff and over 38,000 students. We are seeking a strategic thinker, who has the proven ability to translate bold and innovative visions into reality and who can engender outstanding customer service and a high-performance management culture. Critically, they will have excellent communication skills and stakeholder management experience and will have a genuine commitment to the transformative vision and mission of the University.
