The Learning and Teaching Academy (LTA) plays a pivotal role in supporting colleagues across Heriot-Watt's global community to flourish in their teaching and educational leadership and provides specialist expertise to shape learning and teaching policy and strategic projects across the University. The group is seeking to appoint a new Associate Professor (Grade 9) in Learning and Teaching Enhancement. In this newly-created role, the postholder will have the opportunity to shape and realise the University’s strategic ambition to pioneer in globally-connected learning and purpose-led education. 

About the Role

As Associate Professor in Learning and Teaching Enhancement you will have a key leadership role within the LTA team. You will establish and lead our new Curriculum Design Hub, collaborating with colleagues from across the university to inspire creativity in curriculum development and embed good practice in programme and course design. You will contribute across the breadth of the Learning and Teaching Academy’s enhancement and academic development activity, offering specialist expertise in curriculum design and development. Working across the whole University, the appointee will be a confident leader, communicator, mentor and teacher, adept at harnessing the opportunities offered by blended and digital learning to work in a truly global context.

We seek applications from candidates whose higher education pedagogy and practice specialisms and competences align with the focus and ambition of the Learning and Teaching Strategy. We would particularly welcome applicants with expertise in supporting strategic change in curriculum development, including developing flexible curriculum to support diverse learner journeys, developing challenge-based approaches to learning, and / or designing and delivering curriculum in global or transnational contexts.
