The School - 

School of Human and Social Sciences offers a full range of awards from foundation degrees to undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees. Our courses and areas of expertise include Criminology and Policing, Psychology, Education, Addiction Studies, Forensic Science, Nutritional Therapy, Politics and International Relations. Our courses are accredited by professional bodies in the sciences, for example, The British Psychological Society and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), Forensic Science is accredited by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences, Addiction studies by the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals and the Nutritional studies course by Nutritional Therapy Education Commission (NTEC). We are rated as 3rd in London for psychology courses and 2nd in London for forensic science courses by the Guardian University Guide 2020.

The Role - 

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching, learning and assessment in the area of Forensic Science.  There will be an expectation to lead on themes of Bayesian approaches to interpretation of evidence within forensic science.  In addition, to lead on themes of forensic chemistry (specifically trace evidence types and marks analysis) as well as supporting teaching within other aspects of forensic science and statistics within the undergraduate courses.  The successful candidate will have significant operational forensic science experience from working in a forensic laboratory. You will possess a good understanding of the Forensic Science sector, have extensive forensic training experience, preferably within a professional setting. In parallel, you will undertake unique research in a forensic science area, contributing to raising the profile of the University Experience of module management, course development and/or training material development is also valued. 

Experience in forensic research is desirable, as is consultancy and / or knowledge exchange. Team working and commitment to excellent student experience are critical components to this role.

The Person - 

The successful candidate will possess a Masters’ degree in a subject relevant field and have extensive practitioner experience in a Forensic Science field. Specialist and up-to-date knowledge of evidence interpretation within forensic science casework is desirable.
