Brunel Design School is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Industrial Design, Branding and Innovation Processes with a view of assuming an academic leadership role within the subject area.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching of higher-level design courses and work closely with colleagues teaching design communication and design processes. The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will also provide specialist support to undergraduate and postgraduate students in their major/dissertation project work.
Candidates are expected to have an appropriate undergraduate degree, a masters’ degree, near completion of PhD and must have a strong interest in teaching Industrial Design, and a good understanding of Service Design, Branding, and Innovation Processes. Ideally, they should have professional experience working in the Industrial Design and/or Branding/Service Design sector.

The school’s undergraduate and masters design programmes are built on a broad interdisciplinary base of creative design skills, technical knowledge and practical experience fostered through extensive industry collaborations. It is expected that the successful candidate will have the experience of generating high quality research that enhances the school’s research portfolio through publication, research/innovation income generation and engagement with stakeholders.
An essential consideration for the appointment is good design teaching and research/innovation skills and the ability to nurture design students and provide them with a high quality learning experience. In addition, candidates will have empathy for interdisciplinary working and taking an integrated approach to design teaching. Candidates must be self-motivated, with good interpersonal and relationship-building skills and passion for design education.
The successful candidate will be expected to play a significant role in the teaching and research environment of Brunel Design School and contribute to the school’s management and future development.
