Job description:

The Role

We would like an enthusiastic Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to lead and further develop research and teaching in quantitative public health, with a focus on health inequalities, the social determinants of health and use of large secondary data sets. As part of this role you will be expected to contribute to curriculum development and the wider academic, scholarly and professional requirements of the Institute and the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Newcastle University.

The role will involve undertaking research and teaching in health inequalities and quantitative research methods within the Population Health Science Institute, Newcastle University; the development and leadership of a focussed programme of innovative research which complements existing health inequalities research within the Institute; developing an effective strategy for attracting research funding from major national research funders (e.g. NIHR, ESRC, Wellcome Trust, MRC) to build a vibrant research group of post-doctoral and PhD researchers; and engaging with and supporting the research agendas of our regional, national and international collaborations (including the the NIHR School of Public Health Research, Fuse: Centre for Translational Research in Public Health, Applied Research Collaboration North East and North Cumbria, and CHAIN: Centre for Global Health Inequalities Research).
