The General Education Program under the College of Social Sciences is looking for applicants to the full-time faculty in Social Sciences. The successful candidate will design and teach a new course in Kazakh culture. Because the course is required of all students, we are seeking an enthusiastic team leader to collaborate with part-time and full-time faculty from other departments as well as within CSS.
The position may also involve teaching in other areas of the College, depending on background and interest. CSS includes the departments of Media and Communications, Public Administration, International Relations and Regional Studies, and Economics.
Applicants should have an earned doctorate in Cultural Studies, Anthropology, History or relevant areas from accredited institutions. Applicants should ideally have at least 3-5 years of teaching experiences in reputable universities and extensive professional experiences in the field of major areas. Applicants should be able to teach in English.
ABDs will be considered who meet the position qualifications and include in their application materials a letter from the dissertation chair confirming defense date prior to the position start date. Candidates must have a record of scholarship, which includes published research in refereed journals and/or books.
A valid certificate of English language proficiency should be provided by final candidates who are non-fluent speakers of English (The International English Language Testing System or IELTS academic with overall score 8.0 or equivalent).
Experience with online and hybrid course design and teaching is strongly desired, along with a demonstrated commitment to innovative, student-centered pedagogy. International experience and interest in CIS countries is welcome. Ability and willingness to teach related courses in our College of Education and Humanities will also be an asset.

Limited on campus housing is available to rent, or alternatively, help is available in finding off campus housing. In addition to salary, a benefit package includes basic healthcare insurance, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses, and subsidy for relocation allowance. New faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching schedule during the first semester. Summer paid teaching is typically available.
The salary will be subject to deduction of taxes (10% Personal Income tax in general) as required by the Law of Kazakhstan. During the first 183 days of staying in Kazakhstan a employee-foreigner has 20% income tax; after 183 days he/she has 10% personnel income tax.
