Looking to take the next step in your academic career? Look no further - the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences has an exciting opportunity for you to join one of the UK’s most dynamic centres for tribology research and education.  

You will develop and contribute to new areas of research that will benefit society and advance bearing tribology. Current strategic areas of focus include: renewable energy, electrification and hydrogen economy.

To be successful you have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in mechanical engineering and their applications along with a detailed understanding and knowledge of the areas - bearing tribology, bearing failure, rolling contact fatigue, metal microstructure characterisation along with a track record of conducting high quality research through both experimental and modelling approaches, producing peer reviewed publications. Ideally, you will have written research grant proposals and hold a PhD or equivalent in Tribology.   

The Faculty offers exceptional research facilities in the areas of fluids, structures and their interactions, including a new world-class fluid dynamics facilities complex in the Boldrewood Engineering Campus, complete with a 138m towing tank.
