The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) is a leading institute for biological research with an extensive Library to support the work of the scientists and support staff.
This is an opportunity to work in a varied role in a small, specialist Library. The role is permanent and can be worked on a full or part time basis (minimum 21 hours per week). You will work with the Librarian to meet the information needs of LMB staff and assist with the publication of LMB research. You will support all aspects of the Library’s services including responding to enquiries, daily administration, document delivery, cataloguing, managing information resources and supporting the LMB publications process. The variety of tasks means there will always be something new to learn and you will also have the opportunity to get involved in additional specific key projects.
It is essential that you demonstrate the ability to work with minimum supervision both independently and as part of a team, have good attention to detail and have the ability to use your own initiative. You should also have the ability to prioritise your work, have good time management skills and a positive and professional manner.
Ideally you will be educated to A level standard and be computer literate with experience of spreadsheets and databases. Preferably you will have experience of working in a professional administrative environment either in a library, research, publishing or public sector setting. You should already have some administrative or customer service experience. However, full training will be given in all aspects of the post.
