Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate within the LFCS Research Group at the School of Informatics. The goal of the project "Distributing big quantum computations over small quantum computers" is to find algorithms that turn a quantum circuit and a description of the connectivity of a network of quantum computers into multiple smaller quantum circuits that can be executed by the nodes of the network, together with a way to recombine the results into an output approximating that of the original quantum circuit. The project will build on initial work in this direction by Andres-Martinez-Heunen, Tang-Tomesh-Larson-Suchara-Martonosi, and Bravyi-Smith-Smolin.

The Opportunity:

To undertake original research in quantum computing, on the project “Distributing big quantum computation over small quantum computers”. To impart knowledge by publishing in peer-reviewed media. To collaborate with other project members, including those in the Cisco Quantum Summit.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • PhD in quantum computing, or another field of informatics, mathematics, or physics, relevant to the project.
  • Proven expertise in quantum circuits.
  • Preferably, experience in concurrency, multiparty quantum computation, and/or quantum circuit optimisation.
  • Ability to undertake original research.
  • Demonstrated quality of research performance.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing.
