The University of Greenwich is looking for an experienced software developer to work within the Development Team in Business Solutions, which is part of the Information and Library Services Directorate.
You will be a part of the team with responsibility for the development and maintenance of key mobile and web-based information systems, with a particular emphasis on the university’s student records system, mobile application, student and staff Portal, HR, Finance, and timetabling systems. You will be integral in all phases of the software lifecycle in developing and customising software to enhance the systems in use by all students and staff at the University (approximately 40,000 users located around the world).
You will act as a source of knowledge and experience in the Development Team; supporting, coaching and occasionally supervising team members as required. You will work with the Software Development Manager to devise and embed coding standards and best-practice in the team.
In addition to the necessary technical skills, you will have demonstrable experience of both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies, including working with Project Managers, Business Analysts and senior users as required. Some project management experience would be an advantage.
You will be a strong communicator, well organised and able to manage a wide and varied workload. The ability to logically and thoroughly document your work is vital.
The post will be based at the outstanding World Heritage Site of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich. This is permanent position, and the role attracts London Weighting and salary related local government pension.
