The British Museum is a museum of the world, for the world. Free to visit and accessible to all, the Museum looks after an extraordinary collection of objects spanning human history from the earliest beginnings to the present day and engages millions of people every year. Philanthropy plays a vital role in advancing the Museum’s mission, reach, and impact.
There is an opp ortunity for an ambitious fundraising leader to join the Advancement department as we plan a major campaign to support the British Museum’s transformation for the 21st century.
The Head of Philanthropy is a new strategic position responsible for leading a high-performing team across major gifts, trusts & foundations, and legacies. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Head of Philanthropy will develop and implement a multi-year strategy to meet the Philanthropy Team’s income targets, nurture relationships with donors, and engage new supporters. The post holder will cultivate, solicit, and steward their own prospect portfolio to secure funding for the Museum’s priorities, while working closely with the Director of Advancement to support her with the management of key relationships.
