The Opportunity:

The post holder will use molecular and genetic strategies to modify parasite protein and RNA expression and test the functional importance of these molecules on parasite survival and host gene expression in the mammalian gut. In parallel the post holder will develop fluorescent tagging and imaging methods to track parasite molecule mobility in the mouse host.

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • Training in parasitology, immunology, cell biology, molecular biology and/or RNA biology
  • Experience in Flow cytometry, fluorescent imaging and in vivo models of infection or inflammation
  • High level communication skills and experience (or appreciation for) working in a cross-disciplinary team and with bioinformaticians.
  • Experience in genetic modification strategies, molecular biology and RNA biochemistry
