About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Trials Data Manager/Database Developer to join our expanding team of highly motivated data management and IT staff in supporting a growing portfolio of clinical trials. The post holder will take responsibilities for data management and database activities for one of our main studies (ATTACK-MS) or other assigned studies.

The focus of the role will be to design and build study databases and coordinate data management activities for these two studies using electronic data capture (EDC) systems such as OpenClinica and RedCap. It will also involve liaison with and advice to senior investigators and study teams, as well as training and supporting end users. Appropriate training and support to carry out the role will be given as required.

About You

An undergraduate degree, with relevant experience of building trial databases using EDC systems in clinical research is required. Also among the essential requirements are experience of developing relevant data management processes and documentation, as well as a good understanding of the regulatory framework around data protection and information governance.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

The newly established Institute of Population Health Science is a world class, multidisciplinary grouping of academics. Its focus is on population health sciences, spanning public and global health, health services research, health policy, genomics and data science, behavioural and social sciences. IPHS delivers evidence to implement health system change for population benefit.

The Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit is a fully registered UKCRC trials unit based within the Centre for Clinical Trials and Methodology. The PCTU leads and supports clinical trials in which the primary question of interest relates to intervention effectiveness: whether an intervention works under real-life conditions. It also carries out and supports pilot studies for these trials. The unit focuses particularly on trials of complex interventions. http://www.qmul.ac.uk/pctu.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London, and remote working can be considered. It is full or part time (up to 35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for two years initially, with an expected start date as soon as possible in 2021. The appointment will be made at £34,733 to £45,479 per annum (pro-rata) depending on experience.
