Applications are invited for the above post based within the Power Electronic, Machines & Control (PEMC) Research Group, Faculty of Engineering, in their new 5500m^2 building which opened in March 2021 on the University’s Jubilee Campus. 

Working within the team the post holder will be involved in the organisation, planning and installation of a wide range of electrical systems including Low Voltage AC/DC installations, particularly focussing on projects associated with our aerospace research activities.  

Duties will include:

  • Construction and modification of a wide range of electrical equipment, including motor drive systems. This will entail specification, pricing and purchasing of appropriate components.
  • Testing and inspection of electrical installations and equipment to meet health and safety directives.
  • Construction of individually designed electrical control panels and high-power electronic devices for research and development.
  • Offer technical advice to both academics and researchers in relation to the safe operation of the group’s electrical research rigs.

Candidates must have served an electrical apprenticeship in relevant subjects or have electrical qualifications with substantial work experience in a relevant role.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of electrical practices and previous experience working within an electrical environment is essential. 

This full time (36.25 hours) post is available on a fixed term contract until 31st December 2022. Job share arrangements would be considered.
