The Royce at the University of Sheffield is a~£34M project based in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Sheffield is part of the national Henry Royce Institute (with the main Hub in Manchester) which aims to grow the UK world-leading research and innovation base in advanced materials science, fundamental to all industrial sectors and the national economy. At Sheffield, Royce focuses on Advanced Materials Processing and will be delivered through various technologies located in our facilities, the Royce Discovery Centre (RDC) and the Royce Translational Centre (RTC). These state-of-the-art facilities will allow materials discovery, materials manufacturing and prototype production and will act as an open access centre of excellence for the UK.

As AMP Engineering Lead, you will play a pivotal role in managing the Royce Discovery Centre Workshop, working with the other AMP engineering lead to provide high-level technical support to research and commercial activities.

You will have a degree in material science, engineering or any other relevant discipline, or have equivalent related work experience. You will have experience of managing technical facilities and operations in a complex/demanding environment. You will have experience in thermo-mechanical processes and a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations and standards. You will take responsibility for work planning/organisation and progression in collaboration with senior colleagues to meet planned timescales and objectives.
