Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences, Oxford Zeiss Centre of Excellence between the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology and Institute of Developmental and Regenerative Medicine, Roosevelt Drive, Headington, Oxford.
We are seeking an Advance Image Analyst to support image analysis of data produced within the new Oxford-Zeiss Centre of Excellence (Oxford-ZCoE) in Oxford. This flagship imaging centre has recently been established through a strategic partnership between the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology (KIR) and Institute of Developmental and Regenerative Medicine (IDRM), both within the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford, based at Roosevelt Drive, Headington, Oxford. The vision is to build a future-proof imaging facility to keep Oxford Bioimaging at the cutting-edge of imaging in international research. The mission is to provide researchers at Oxford with the latest state-of-the-art optical imaging technology and advanced analysis strategies, to facilitate advanced biomedical research focused on health and disease.
You will build analytical pipelines to aid ZCoE users in the analysis and interpretation of their fluorescence microscopy data. This could include development of automated approaches for feature recognition, segmentation, and tracking. You will help to ensure that the Oxford-Zeiss Centre of Excellence (Oxford-ZCoE) Microscopy Facility stays at the forefront of imaging in biology by maintaining knowledge of current developments in analysis and big-data management. This includes teaming up with facility users to explore the limits of their pipelines, advising them on analysis techniques and methods to fully leverage the strengths of the microscopy. You will also ensure data processing and analysis is completed with integrity, is robust, reproducible and legally in accordance with the highest standard of data protection.
You must have a PhD (or near completion) in any of the disciplines of computing, physical- and life-sciences and have programming skills in matlab, python mathematica or R. Experience in image analysis using commercial software such as FIJI, Huygens, Arivis or Imaris, as well as in building custom algorithms using MATLAB or Python and excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with DPhil students, Postdoctoral scientists, and PIs is essential. Recent publications in optical microscopy, image analysis, and/or life-sciences and experience of image analysis for advanced microscopy such as light-sheet, airyscan, or super-resolution microscopies is desirable.
This is a fixed-term, full time position for 2 years.
