The Post

The Division of History, Heritage and Politics wishes to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Grade 7 Lecturer in International Politics. The main responsibilities are to: teach and supervise postgraduate and undergraduate students; and, undertake administrative duties as appropriate.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Dissertation supervision at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels
  • Coordinating and delivering specialist modules in the Undergraduate programme (including the advanced module POLU9PE Global Political Economy, and one other advanced module)
  • Coordinating and delivering the International Conflict and Cooperation (ICC) Postgraduate taught programme (ICCPP02 International Organisations)
  • The successful candidate will be a member of a wider collaborative community across the University, contributing to interdisciplinary teaching with real world impact.

Description of Duties

  • Contribute to the design, delivery, assessment and evaluation of a range of teaching and learning, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including online/digital programmes, where required
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the quality of teaching provision and programme development, drawing on leading practices from the HE sector
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of effective approaches to teaching and learning support as key contributions to high quality student learning
  • Contribute to enhancement of the student experience and employability

Essential Criteria

Qualifications

  • PhD in relevant discipline or close to successful completion or equivalent professional and/or teaching experience

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Experience or knowledge to design, deliver, assess and evaluate modules in the subject area
  • Demonstrate an understanding of or provide evidence of developing effective approaches to teaching and learning, student support and guidance
