UCC wishes to appoint an experienced academic to the role of Lecturer in Education (New Avenues to Teaching).  Reporting to the Head of School the appointee will coordinate and lead the New Avenues to Teaching programme (NAT), Phase II.  The NAT initiative is a funded national initiative for developing access to, and participation in, initial teacher education, under the Programme for Access to Higher Education (PATH) strand one (see here for further details: https://hea.ie/policy/access-policy/path/). The post holder will lead the NAT initiative through managing and delivering the various initiatives attached to the programme (e.g., a Junior Teacher Programme, student scholarships, mentoring of ITE students, embedding diversity across programmes in the school, and leading research and evaluation related to the project). Essential criteria for this role include:

  1. A doctorate or equivalent professional qualification.
  2. A teaching qualification in the compulsory phase of education (primary or post-primary). This qualification must be eligible for recognition by the Teaching Council of Ireland.
  3. Evidence of delivering equality, diversity and inclusion programmes in educational settings.  
  4. Evidence of the ability to foster an inclusive learning and teaching environment in an educational setting.
  5. Experience of research supervision.
  6. Evidence of working with a range of stakeholders within school communities (beyond teaching).

Appointment may be made on the Lecturer Below the Bar Salary Scale: €35,248 - €61,984 (Scale B) - €37,158 - €58,981 (Scale A)

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
