We are currently inviting applications for a PhD in Psychology funded by the Economic and Social Research Council as part of the South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) Doctoral Training Partnership.

The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences has an international reputation for research in several areas with a flourishing neuroscience centre and a long-standing tradition of influencing clinical training and practice on the basis of empirical research. The School is particularly strong in the areas of Psychopathology and Emotional Disorders, Affective and Cognitive Neuroscience, Personalised Nutrition, Motivation and Behaviour Change, Perception and Action, Cognitive Control, Language, Linguistics, and Bilingualism, and Clinical Language Sciences.

We invite applications from candidates with research interests relevant to these fields.

Funding Details:  

  • Tuition fees, UKRI stipend and application access to funding for training, travel, fieldwork and overseas visits
  • Starts October 2022
  • 3 and 4 year awards available depending on project and researcher experience/qualifications
  • Open to applications from candidates without a Master’s qualification
  • Available full- or part-time

Applications are open to UK, EU and International applicants. ESRC SeNSS funding covers tuition fees at the Home rate and the University of Reading will cover the difference between Home and International fees. All awards are open to candidates wishing to study part-time. Applications from candidates without a Master’s degree and from groups under-represented in doctoral study are encouraged.

Application Deadline: 

Early contact with the pathway lead to express your interest is strongly encouraged, ideally by 10/12/2021 with a 700-word research proposal and CV including details of any prior qualification.

Applicants must apply for a place of admission at the University Reading by 14 January 2022.

Applications for SeNSS funding through the HEIApply platform must be completed by 12 noon on 25 January 2022.
