Purpose of Job

Take responsibility for complying with OfS reporting requirements, and provide the OfS’s Accountable Officer, and Governing Body, with appropriate updates and assurances regarding relevant matters including, compliance with the terms and conditions of funding, including student loans, quality of data, timing of data returns, UCAS requirements and all other regulatory responsibilities

Have responsibility for leading and reporting on implementing actions set out in the Access and Participation Plan (APP)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diligently collate and communicate deadlines for a range of external stakeholders
  • Support the approach to compliance and regulatory matters, providing guidance on OfS and other compliance requirements
  • Read and disseminate publications from Higher Education regulatory bodies, highlighting any subsequent action and impact
  • Prepare reports that communicate progress against regulatory compliance
  • Undertake research related to risk, compliance, and regulatory matters to ensure high-quality advice/guidance for colleagues
  • Monitor reporting cycles and deliverables to ensure they are on schedule, taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date records and plans
  • Work collaboratively with a wide range of teams in order to contribute to the meeting of conditions of registration with the OfS and other regulatory requirements in a strictly time bound manner
  • Identify where internal policies and procedures need to be reviewed against specific regulatory directives in order to ensure compliance
  • Assist colleagues in their work towards the actions required to meet regulatory requirements

  • Have good knowledge of the Office for Students and other associated Higher Education regulatory and quality bodies e.g. QAA, OIA, ESFA, HESA, Ofsted
  • Be able to interpret technical briefings and highlight the impact and actions required
  • Communicate complex information quickly and concisely
  • Can prepare high quality reports for presentation and dissemination
  • Can identify and signpost high risk scenarios that are developing as a response to the internal and wider external environment
  • Have good knowledge of policies and procedures
  • Good attention to detail

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to first degree level
  • Level 2 English and Maths
