About the Role
The Institute is looking for an outstanding individual to join the WHRI’s vibrant working environment. The successful candidate will become a Lecturer, will contribute to the intellectual life of the School / Institute and wider institution and research field of statistical genomics, as well as taking a full part in the educational goals of WHRI.

About You
The successful candidate will have a PhD involving statistical analysis, with experience and skills in the area of statistical genomics as well as an established record of publication in well-regarded journals. The post will focus on applying statistical genomics approaches to uncovering the genetic determinants of human diseases, in particular through gene burden approaches to novel Mendelian gene discovery. In addition, the individual will work with existing researchers at QMUL and internationally on developing new clinical phenotype driven approaches to rare disease variant prioritisation. Skills and experience in these areas, in addition to a background in bioinformatics data analysis, are necessary.

About the Institute
The William Harvey Research Institute (WHRI) was established in 1986 and is one of six Institutes within Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises over 580 staff based in eight academic centres, and around 300 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver research and teaching excellence across three general themes: cardiovascular, inflammation and endocrinology within which are also embedded groups of excellence in intensive care and renal disease.

The post is based at the Charterhouse Campus in London. It is a full-time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment, with an expected start date of 1 January 2022. The starting salary will be Grade 5/6, in the range of £43,069 - £53,625 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
