This candidate will carry out a PhD investigating the role of multimodal interaction and theory of mind in human robot cooperation and the acceptability and trust of robot companions. This will involve use of the latest machine learning methods for robot's cognitive architectures. The PhD research will develop novel cognitive robotics architecture for trust and will carry out human-robot experiments.

The student will work collaboratively as part of the cognitive robotics research lab at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Manchester under the supervision of Professor Angelo Cangelosi. Close collaboration with the other THRIVE++ project staff and partners will also be required.

Application deadline: 10th January 2022 (applications will be considered after the deadline, until the position is filled).

The project funding will cover UK home fees and a PhD bursary.

  • You will have good time management.
  • You will possess determination (which is often more important than qualifications) although you'll need a good amount of both.
