Job description

The primary function of the role is to manage the day- to- day aspects of King’s College London International goods movements working with internal clients and external partners

This role is important for the university to ensure we remain compliant with HMRC requirements and to ensure the most efficient options are used for shipments and apply the appropriate tax reliefs

Reporting to the Head of Tax Services within the Tax Services team, this role will work as part of a team supporting this service and so may be asked to work across the Tax Service’s activities and occasionally support the work of the wider Financial Services team.

The role holder will form and maintain strong working relationships across Finance, Procurement & other areas of the university that the service relates to.

This post will be offered on an  a fixed-term contract for 7 months

This is a full-time  post - 100% full time equivalent

Key responsibilities

  • All Import goods movements and Export movements are fully reconciled to the Business World ERP system and all appropriate postings of Import VAT and Customs Duty are made on a monthly basis.
  • Providing support and advice to colleagues on the most appropriate processes to meet their requirements and to provide training where appropriate.
  • To work with external providers to ensure an efficient and cost -effective service is delivered and that orders are received within agreed timescales
  • To ensure that all VAT and Customs Duty reliefs are obtained where appropriate
  • Support the wider Tax Services team across all lines of their work including Duties, Reliefs and exemptions, VAT and other overseas Goods & Services Tax work, Corporation Tax and general tax administration and compliance tasks.
  • They keep up to date with changes in the sector, service discipline and university in general that may impact on the role.
  • They will have strong communication and customer service skills being able to deal with a wide range of seniority of staff, and other key stakeholders.
  • They will play an active part in the Financial Services community and demonstrate a commitment to change, improvement and development both as an individual and in the provision of services to the university and outside stakeholders.
