The Institute of Health Sciences Education (IHSE) invites applications for the post of Clinical Skills Centre Technician. The successful candidate will provide technical support to staff and students in the delivery of teaching and assessment. The work will involve preparing rooms for practical sessions, servicing Skills Centre equipment, and maintaining associated facilities within the Centre. The post holder will be expected to follow written floor plans with minimal supervision, and room preparation will involve manual handling (e.g. moving tables, patient screens, examination couches and other equipment).

We are seeking an organised and methodical person, skilled in communicating with staff and students at all levels. Experience of working in a hospital or academic environment is desirable, but an inquisitive disposition and aptitude to learn about the equipment you will be required to maintain is essential. Competency to develop a working knowledge in the use of specialist equipment, and demonstrate the use of these resources to staff and students is also required. This may include new technologies as they become available. The post holder should be able to pay attention to detail, remain calm under pressure, and work flexibly around the needs of the Centre (including unsocial hours).

The Clinical skills Centre is primarily used to teach and assess medical students’ clinical and communication skills. Facilities include 11 clinical rooms housing a selection of anatomical models/simulators, and 2 Communication Suites comprising of audio-visual recording & playback equipment.

The post is based at the Clinical Skills Centre, West Smithfield campus – St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London. It is a full time, fixed appointment to 26.7.26. The starting salary will be Grade 2, in the range of £22,781 - £27,513 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
