This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Engineering Graduate to fast-track their career development as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate.  Autac Products Limited are a leading UK design and manufacturing company of high-quality products supplying to Electrical & Commercial Vehicles, Aviation, Defence, Communication, Agriculture, Marine, Oil, Chemical and medical distribution and OEM companies globally.

Following on from work undertaken by a previous KTP Associate, you will be challenged to run this 12-month programme of research and implementation as the Project Manager.  This post is a dynamic role looking to introduce a new product innovation process and transfer and embed the knowledge to enable the design and development of an innovative range of competitive, Smart Foldable Electrical Connectors with Cable Reel variants for the Electric Vehicle market. Autac will integrate this new knowledge by developing a new R&D department.

The key challenge of this project will be to become a UK manufacturer at the heart of the emerging EV market and to build a new capability to manufacture smart connectors and cables for this evolving marketplace.  Autac operates well within its current markets and will continue to service existing customers, introducing new designs, new processes and new business functions. A further challenge will be to embed new knowledge and capability in R&D and innovation management into the existing manufacturing processes and products.

The postholder will be the catalyst for change, spearheading the creation of innovative R&D with the KTP project equipping the Associate with unique technical as well as transferable skills in order for them to be the change agent within the company.

The successful candidate will undertake a 12-month collaborative project between Autac Products Ltd and the University of Salford (School of Science, Engineering and Environment (SEE). Based in Macclesfield, you will be supported by the staff from the company and an academic team from the University of Salford whilst undertaking scientific research work. The post holder from their involvement in this programme will also gain a deeper understanding of research and development in turning an idea into commercial reality.

The successful candidate will receive extensive practical and formal training, gain highly desirable specialist business skills, broaden knowledge and expertise within an industrially relevant project, and gain valuable experience from their commercial and academic mentors. The KTP Associate will benefit from a Personal Development Budget of £4,000 and will have the opportunity to register free of charge for a postgraduate research qualification.

This is a full time, fixed term (12 month) opportunity.
