For the last five years, Staffordshire University has been on a transformative journey, achieving UK top 50 League Table rankings, TEF Gold standard in Teaching and Learning and recognition as the “Connected University”, of, and for, its community and region. Business minded, industry engaged, research applied, technologically savvy and digitally leading, Staffordshire University provides an outstanding education for our students, preparing them for the jobs of the future, some of which do not yet exist.
We are embarking on the next exciting phase of our strategic development, under the leadership of our new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Martin Jones, our current Deputy Vice Chancellor, who takes up post in January 2022. In readiness for this, we are making important changes to the senior leadership team of the University and are seeking to make a number of high-profile appointments including the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor Digital Transformation.
Digital has been part of Staffordshire’s DNA for more than half a century; we were the first UK university to launch a computing degree, are industry leaders in our games design courses and the first to launch undergraduate and post graduate esports courses. In 1919/20 the launch of Staffordshire University London further expanded our geographical reach of our digital credentials. We are now well placed as sector leaders in the use of simulation and immersion technology as part of our teaching and learning.
We are seeking a Pro Vice-Chancellor Digital Transformation who will build on our achievements to date and who will be responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the University’s continuing digital transformation agenda. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor and the Board of Governors, the PVC Digital Transformation, will develop the vision and lead on the implementation of a transformation plan to deliver the University’s strategic goals, leading the process of defining, differentiating, and shaping the institution during its next exciting phase of development in this area. Responsible for the Digital and Technical Services function, Transformation and for driving the “Smart Estate”, the successful candidate will lead transformative action across the University, to deliver digitally enabled, streamlined ways of working, leading to service improvement, customer experience and financial efficiency.
Candidates will have a thorough knowledge and understanding of evolving technologies and their impact on business delivery together with a successful track record of digital transformation in a respected organisation. They will have proven leadership and change management experience with excellent communication skills and the ability to foster strong external working relationships. This is a pivotal role for the University and an exceptional opportunity for someone to help us achieve our goal as the UK’s foremost digital University and deliver on our strategic ambition.
The closing date for applications is midnight (GMT) on Monday 17th January 2022.
