The Centre Manager is the key operational lead for the Centre; responsible for developing and directing all administration and support infrastructure to ensure the efficient running of the CBC.
This includes the design and implementation of systems to manage the finances of a busy academic institution, responsible for approximately 26 active research contracts that represent £7.9m in in research funding awarded to the CBC. Leading decision-making processes regarding the Centre’s annual work plan; ensuring that research staff are appropriately recruited, inducted and supported to complete their work for the Centre; oversee the development of the public profile of the Centre, including its website, marketing materials and administrative publications. Provide for the storage, classification and appropriate management documentation and knowledge within the Centre.
This senior administrative post will work closely with Centre Director, Deputy Director, Research Lead, Events Manager, Senior Teaching Fellows, Teaching Administrator (0.5FTE) to provide complex administrative support and lead in the working areas of financial management, research finance and grants administration, human resources (recruitment, leavers, absence management, staff reviews and record planning), contract management and business planning and implementation.
The post-holder will support the Centre Director and Deputy Director in implementing the delivery of the CBC’s strategic objectives through maintaining effective local administration systems. In addition to these duties the post-holder is responsible for overseeing, implementing and expanding the Centre’s income generating events. The post-holder will be required to expand and extend the Centre’s income streams, including (but not restricted to) professionally and autonomously running events such as the annual CBC conference and Summer School programmes.
The successful candidate should have a relevant degree and managerial experience. They will have a detailed understanding of behaviour change methods and practice, and substantial experience working leading the administration and management of a busy academic research centre.
