The beauty and size of Trinity’s courts attract visitors from all over the world, but the College is also a thriving, modern community, which exists to give its members a rewarding, richly resourced, and intellectually inspiring place in which to pursue their education and research.

Technology plays a pivotal role in enabling the College to deliver its core research and administrative activities and the IT department is responsible for providing support to over 1500 users, accessing over 50 servers.  As part of a team of ten reporting directly to the Head of IT, the Microsoft SQL Database Administrator will design and build a new Microsoft SQL database infrastructure to support the Colleges’ current and future datasets. The post holder will also plan and assist with the migration of databases from the old SQL servers to the new environment and provide documentation and informal training for members of the IT team to support the future use of the new SQL estate.

The successful candidate will be experienced in designing and deploying SQL environments using current and previous versions of Microsoft SQL Server, designing MS SQL environments for business-critical operations and will ideally have experience designing MS SQL infrastructure running in Microsoft Azure.

Applicants should be educated to A level standard (or equivalent) and have relevant MS SQL/Microsoft Server/Microsoft Azure certifications, have a great eye for detail and excellent communication skills in order to advise developers on operations, scripts, and triggers to improve database access.  In addition the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they are able to work in liaison with people at all levels, with a strong ‘customer service’ focus.
