Reader: UE09 - £53,348 - £60,022 per annum

Applications are invited for a Lecturer/Reader (Assistant/Associate Professor) position in Computer Systems to join the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh. The post is based within the School’s Institute for Computing Systems Architecture (ICSA).

The Opportunity:

This position is part of our ongoing effort to widen and strengthen our Computer Systems research profile across the School and as such we invite applications from candidates with research expertise in all computer systems areas but especially in those that complement our existing presence. The School has an established portfolio of undergraduate and MSc courses in computer systems. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to teaching on a range of non-Honours courses as well as in more specialist areas of Computer Systems.

We are seeking current and future leaders in the field. The successful candidate will have (or be near to completing) a PhD, outstanding track record of research, evidence of growing reputation, an ambitious vision and research agenda, the enthusiasm and ability to undertake original research, to lead a research group, and to engage with teaching and academic supervision. Your skills and attributes for success:

UE08 Lecturer:

  • PhD in Computer Science (or related field) and experience as an established academic in /Computer Systems. Candidates who are close to completing their PhD, and who otherwise meet the selection criteria, will be considered.
  • Proven experience of undertaking original research, including leading a research group.
  • Proven experience of attracting research funding as an independent researcher.

UE09 Reader: as above and including:

  • Proven ability to provide leadership for activities in delivering the School’s objectives.
  • Extensive experience in research, postgraduate supervision and teaching is essential.
  • Proven ability to foster and embed a strong student-focused culture
