We are looking for a Senior Lecturer in Children’s Nursing to contribute to the provision of our pre-registration nursing education programmes.

Senior Lecturer in Children’s Nursing Overview

One of four University faculties, the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing has over 500 staff members and 11,000 students. The Faculty comprises a wide and diverse range of subject areas, research and knowledge exchange activities, organised through four institutes: the Institute of Human Science, the Institute of Health, the Institute of Community and Society and the Institute of Education.

The Institute of Health includes a wide range of professionally qualifying health care courses. We are growing to meet the needs of people who wish to work with a host of employers in healthcare and related areas. We include courses in nursing, nursing associates, midwifery, physiotherapy, paramedic science, podiatry and a wide range of continuing professional development opportunities. We are expanding on our newly developed skills centres to offer hands-on teaching of nursing and healthcare professions skills through a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art equipment.

Senior Lecturer in Children’s Nursing Role and Responsibilities

  • Commitment to fairness, inclusivity and the promotion of equality and diversity.
  • Teaching on undergraduate and/or postgraduate level programmes and carry out the associated examining and administration.
  • Responsibility for the design, content and delivery of specific areas of teaching and learning and for the quality of teaching delivered.
  • Lead modules and/or courses.
  • Contribute to the wider student experience through personal tutoring, classroom teaching and providing support in and outside the classroom, and supervise student projects and placements.
  • Develop a standing as a scholar and / or practitioner in your field collaborating with colleagues in and beyond the University.
  • Ensure that outcomes of scholarly activity and/or professional practice are appropriately disseminated in practitioner seminars, conferences or publications or peer reviewed outlets.
  • Identify opportunities for income generation and/or entrepreneurialism from scholarship, CPD, consultancy and/or professional practice.

Senior Lecturer in Children’s Nursing Requirements

  • You will be registered as a children’s nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and educated to a minimum of a Master’s Degree level or equivalent and you will hold a recognised teaching qualification in higher education, or be willing to work towards one.
  • Experience of teaching in an academic setting is essential and candidates with a research profile are welcomed.
  • Dedication to innovative teaching and research activities within healthcare are also a requirement of the post, in order to contribute towards the nursing portfolio and the profile of the faculty.
