The Department of Social Policy & Intervention is looking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to work on our flagship Global Parenting Initiative (GPI). The GPI is a multi-million-pound five-year project with a vision that is bold, ambitious, and immediate: to provide access to free, evidence-based, playful parenting support to every parent, everywhere, so that they are equipped with the knowledge and tools to help their children realise their learning potential. You will lead on and manage the project budget through effective and efficient monitoring and control, ensuring compliance with all relevant funder, partner organisations and financial regulations in the UK and Global South.

Funds supporting this project are provided by the Oak and LEGO Foundations.

As a skilled finance professional, you have significant experience working in financial roles, with demonstrable skills across financial planning. You will support the PI and the GPI Executive Group through quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting plus reporting, and longer-term financial planning. You will work with overseas partners on budgeting and forecasting, scrutinise their financial submissions to ensure consistency with agreed operational and financial objectives. You have excellent intercultural communication skills and experience in building collaborative relationships. The role requires highly developed matrix management, and refined negotiating and influencing skills as you will be responsible for setting timeframes for the delivery of budget and forecast, including oversight of the process.

The GPI Finance Manager holds a core leadership position within the management team and provides an exciting opportunity to work with a international team, dedicated to improving the lives of children across the globe.

The Department is committed to fostering an environment of equality, diversity and inclusion. Our family-friendly ethos allows for hours to be worked flexibly to complement caring responsibilities. Applications are particularly welcome from ethnic minority candidates.

The position will be based in Oxford with opportunities for remote working within the UK.
